Library Vision

These are the formative years in a child's life, and schooling plays a significant role.  And while most of child's education occurs inside a classroom, what they learn in the library - organization, simple skills, and a love of reading - will serve to enhance each lesson learned.

Kindergarten

In their first year in school kindergarteners are simply getting used to idea of public school.  And, in turn, they are getting used to the idea of visiting the library and checking out books.

1st Grade

Having made it through their first year of school, 1st graders now know what to expect in the library.  This year, however, students will begin to discover what to expect of the library, namely how it functions and the services it provides.

2nd Grade

Now that a foundation for library science has been laid, 2nd graders are ready to experience the library in a new and exciting manner, that is they will begin to see how the skills they learn in library can help them in their homeroom.

3rd Grade

Third grade is a transitional year in the life of a student.  More and more is being expected of them, and the library serves to help meet those expectations.  It is for this reason that beginning research skills are emphasized and practiced.

4th Grade

A year older, 4th grade students are ready to take another step in the education process.  The projects that were reserved for the "older kids" are now their assignments, and learning to acquire research for these projects is of the highest priority.

5th Grade

To this point, students have been told of the importance of solid research, and their efforts have produced research that is reliable.  One key component, however, has been missing from their learning: presentation.  In this, their last year of elementary school, 5th graders will witness the value of a powerful presentation.
